Meet Ed Dombroski

After serving on the Finance Committee (2014-17), Ed was first elected in 2017 to the then-Board of Selectmen and is now in his third term on the Town Council, serving as both Chair (2019-2020) and Vice Chair (2024-present).

As a Town Councilor, Ed has distinguished himself as a watchdog for your taxpayer dollars — scrutinizing spending, asking direct, pointed questions, and consistently advocating for sustainable, responsible, and long-term budgeting practices. He’ll bring this much needed know-how to the role of Town Treasurer.

As Chair of the Public Safety Building Reassessment Committee, Ed led the way toward a $10M+ renovation and expansion of the facility — a project that was completed on time, on budget, and without raising taxes.

Ed has been the driving force behind the Envision Wakefield Downtown Revitalization initiative. In Phase 1, he secured hundreds of thousands of dollars in state funding to complete the Albion Street corridor improvements — a project he helped see through to successful completion. For the upcoming Phase 2, Ed has worked hard to secure millions in additional state funding for transformational streetscape improvements around Wakefield Center and along Main Street, slated to begin in the next couple of fiscal years.

Ed is an attorney and the owner and Managing Partner of the family law firm Travers | Dombroski in Boston. Ed has developed a distinguished practice focused on sophisticated litigation, including complex financial issues and international custody disputes.  Ed represents clients throughout Massachusetts and from across the country and around the world in matters in the Massachusetts state and Federal Courts.

As a longtime successful business owner, he brings the experience needed to manage Wakefield’s assets, accounts, and debt — all while preserving our town’s stellar AAA bond rating and saving taxpayers millions of dollars.

Ed was recently re-elected unanimously to continue serving as Treasurer of the Massachusetts Bar Foundation. Under his financial leadership, the Foundation has seen unprecedented growth. He also serves on the MBF Finance Committee and is a longtime Trustee and Fellow. Through his years of service to the MBF, Ed helps oversee grantmaking of millions of dollars each year to expand access to legal services to many underserved populations.

Ed is a passionate advocate committed to ending domestic violence, a cause he has supported for the last 25 years. Ed previously served on the Board of Directors for RESPOND, Inc., New England’s first domestic violence agency. He is also actively involved with the work of Wakefield Alliance Against Violence (WAAV) and the Boys and Girls Club of Metro North (formerly Boys & Girls Clubs of Stoneham-Wakefield). Ed is also a past President of the Union College Alumni Club of Boston.

Ed is a strong supporter of our Veterans and has worked extensively with the Home Base Foundation, an organization in partnership with Massachusetts General Hospital focused on the “invisible wounds of war,” providing critical mental health and rehabilitative services for our returning service members and military families. Ed has run two marathons dedicated solely to raising funds in support of Home Base’s work.

Ed is a cum laude graduate of Union College and Boston University School of Law. In his free time, Ed is an avid marathon runner, snowboarder, and sprint triathlete.
